Pre Race Warm up (Read 159 times)

It would depend on the length of the race.    A mile, or a 5k; yes.  A marathon, no

Agreed.  The longer the race, the less inclination I have to do a warm-up.

Did a last long run this morning (22m) before entering inti taper mode. The first 4-5 miles were tough as suffering from shin splints, so I won't warm up, but I will do some stretcheson thre shins.

      Personal bests (bold = this year): 5K - 23:27 / 5M - 38:42 / 10K - 49:31 (track) / 10M - 1:24:26 / HM - 1:51:17 / M - 3:58:58

Next races: NYC Marathon, Nov 2014

I agree to warm up as well. I warmed up for about 10 minutes before my marathon. I pretty much hit my race pace in the first mile (a small crowd) and felt good. Here is what I think. If my body and muscles are not opened up, lactate acid would accumulate more if immediately I get into the race pace. That could probably make quite different at the end of the race. I don't know if it is the case.

        5k - 20:56 (09/12), 7k - 28:40 (11/12), 10k trial - 43:08  (03/13), 42:05 (05/13), FM - 3:09:28 (05/13), HM - 1:28:20 (05/14), Failed 10K trial - 6:10/mi for 4mi (08/14), FM - 3:03 (09/14)
