Garmin forerunner 235 (Read 119 times)

Mmmm Bop

    230 user here as well.

Started using it in Dec of 2016.  It's my everyday wear watch as well.  Still easily holds a weeks worth of charge.  Personally, I'd rather buy the 230 than the 235 as the wrist-based HRM is not all that and that's the difference between the two.  I'd guess the 230 battery lasts a good bit longer than the 235 due to the HRM.  Anyone know?

At any rate, I like my current setup of FR230 and Scosche Rhythm HRM.

I found this 230/235 comparison and the 230 is supposed to last for up to 5 weeks without GPS and 16 hours when turned on. 235 otoh is up to 9 days on watch mode and 11 hours with GPS.  I only use the watches for running so that’s not really a big deal to me.

Maybe you might consider purchasing a 235 watch and become one of the cool kidz. 👍

No, I was looking for a longer running with GPS for ultra races and picked up Garmin 935 (up to 24 hrs in GPS mode - just right for my future Western States 100 race Smile. Right now, if I have to select what watch to buy, I would probably buy Garmin 245 - the same battery as 935 but cheaper by $100.

So, yes, big difference in battery life.  If you're one to keep your watch for a long time this will make a difference as the battery goes through it's life cycle and degrades.

I would still choose 235 over a 230 as imo HR data is one of the best ways to monitor fitness/workouts. I always turn my watch off after every workout, so hopefully my 235 has a few more years left. 👍

Not necessarily relevant, but I have the 220, predecessor to 230/235, and it’s still going strong after 5 years (knock wood). I wish it would last forever, because it does everything I need without any extra complications. I can’t think of any of the additional features in the newer models that interest me. Alas, I realize based on typical Garmin longevity I am on borrowed time. If my 220 were to go belly-up right now, I’d probably get a 235.

240/245 is then next gen of 230/235.  Might check those.

I have the 245 music.  Have had it for about 10 runs or so.  Love it so far.

I am old school and had the 305 for a number of years.  I loved that one. In fact, it still works.
