Forums >General Running>Build-up towards triathlon (2 months)
Hello.
Been a while since I posted here and registered a training session, the RA site was having big problems for an extended period, so I kinda forgot about it.
Anyway, I have a triathlon in 2 months time - a mini with about 15 km on bike, 4,5 km running in varied terrain and a few hundred metres of swimming.
I did a run last week, and was wondering about suggestions for a good build up towards such an event.
Last year I finished in about an hour, I'd like to get down to 45 minutes this time.

I'm about 110 kilos, and I also had a phlebotomy the week before, and I wasn't super tired.

You haven't logged anything on RA in two months. It's going to hard for anyone to suggest what a good build up would be without knowing where you are now or what a week of workouts looks like for you. One run is a snapshot in time.
I'm surprised you could find a race that wasn't cancelled. Those are rare these days.

We didn't have quite the Corona slaughter here in Norway.. I'm sure there will be restrictions as to how close you can stand to others etc. but it looks like things are getting back to normal.
I think maybe 2 proper cardio sessions a week running/cycling/swimming is a good start.
Any can-do forum posters with some suggestions?

5-6/week, including at least one brick workout is really ideal. Is the order of legs non-standard (swim, bike, run is standard). Typically the bike-to-run transition is really important, since it takes some practice to overcome the jello legs from that. But if you're getting the run out of the way, first, then maybe cycling to swimming should be a particular focus.

I am pretty sure there are plenty of potential posters on this topic, but your training log looks so depressing, I don't think they are convinced they can help you ...

Maybe the issue is that many folks on the message boards don't use the metric system. For me, 110 kg doesn't mean anything. Neither does 11 km. Now if he had said that his mass was 6.17x10^37 eV or 9.89x10^-26 foe and that he'd traveled 36,692 light-nanoseconds, I maybe, just maybe, would be able to help.

Well if you can run 80 minutes now, you're in plenty of shape to finish a sprint triathlon in two months, assuming you can cover the swim distance.
