Adjusting monitor to better see maps (Read 19 times)

I was having issues with seeing streets on some of the maps and particularly missed seeing the contour lines on the topo map. I just tried readjusting my monitor, I decreased brightness and contrast to what seems to give the best picture and now I can see the lines clearly! I must have set it too bright and washed out the details. I know this is basic knowledge, but others might be experiencing the same problem and this may help them.
