I'm going to date myself.
Le Freak- Chic
Tusk- Fleetwood Mac
I have Tusk.
I think I'm going to out-date you.
I only listen to music on the rare occasions I run on a treadmill, or on a stationary bike, to drown out the terrible gym music as much as anything but "Mr Blue Sky" by ELO and "Boogie Wonderland" by Earth Wind and Fire increase my pace by about a minute a mile.
Other motivators
17 minutes of "Jessica" by the Allman Brothers
"We Won't Get Fooled Again" - The Who
"Layla" - Derek and the Dominos
"You Really Got Me" - The Kinks
"Shaft" - Isaac Hayes
"Live and Let Die" - Wings
"Going the Distance" - Bill Conti, but only because of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZ-_3Ug3wqU

I agree with you about Molly Hatchet...and there's certainly nothing bad about Flirtin', but it's so overplayed and they have so many songs that are so much more betterer! ...but if it keeps you a'movin' and a'groovin' that's all that matters!

Gotta admit - Flirtin' is my all-time favorite MH tune, but seeing your post made me re-visit. Headed out for a 6 mile run with a mix of the other "betterer" songs from MH a few days ago. You're right, Stellars, there's a ton of good ones! Only been running about six months now, so I'm still finding good mixes and playlists.
Anything by the group Knower! Another favorite of mine is the Pat Metheny Trio CD. Very cohesive for a medium long run.
Gah! How did I never hear this song before?
George Jones and Dolly Parton - The Blues Man

When I'm working out, not running, I listen to some old songs that people may have forgotten.
You Really got Me - The Kinks
Mr Blue Sky, Living Thing and Evil Woman - ELO
Jessica (17 minute version) - Allmann Brothers
Theme for Shaft - Isaac Hayes
Hanging on the Telephone - Blondie
Won't Get Fooled Again - The WHo
Free Bird - Lynnyrd Skynyrd
Blinded by the Light - Mannfred Mann's Earth Band
Living in the Past - Jethro Tull
Going Distance - Bill Conti, purely because of this Youtube video of Steve Jones
Boogie Wonderland - Earth Wind and Fire
And some newer stuff.
Hold the Mayo
I ran a half on Sunday, and at one point on the rail trail a couple approached, then passed me. The guy had his iPod playing over the speakers so both he and his girlfriend could hear it. Normally that just annoys the heck out of me, but then a couple Mellencamp songs came on, and suddenly it wasn't annoying at all.
One that especially got me pumped up was Authority Song
A little later on I caught a few bars of John Fogerty's Center Field drifting out of another runner's earbuds - that stuck in my mental iPod for a while too.

Sexy Back. The original of this song is a fun running song but this version makes for great viewing. Jimmy Fallon and Justin TImberlake have a special kind of chemistry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UD8tGWIqA-c Never been a Justin fan until he did several of these musical bits with Jimmy Fallon.
