Only thing I'll add is that if you have multiple pairs of shoes (or at least 2) then that allows you to let the wet pair dry out for a day or two while you wear the dry pair(s). Generally helps the shoes last longer, and then you don't have wet shoes the next day. And if you really care about cleaning them, you don't need to be as careful because they will have time to dry.
