Waterproof rain jackets which fit over a pack? (Read 38 times)

MurrayM

    Hi there,

I live on BC's north coast, tucked up under Alaska's panhandle where it can be cold & drizzling and/or raining for weeks at a time.

Any suggestions for hooded waterproof running jackets with room at the back to fit over a fairly big running pack like the Osprey Duro 15?

You might have to just buy one size larger. I don't think jackets are designed to be put over a pack.

I assume you are calling a "vest" a "pack".

If this is what you're trying to cover, umm...I doubt you'll find something.

I know the Ultimate Direction Hardrocker vest comes with a rainfly if you wanted to buy it for water protection.

Many of us aren't sure what the hell point you are trying to make and no matter how we guess, it always seems to be something else. Which usually means a person is doing it on purpose.

Thanks...getting a larger sized jacket makes sense.

The Osprey Duro 15 is more vest than pack, so not as big as the ones in your link: https://www.amazon.ca/Osprey-Running-Hydration-Phoenix/dp/B07JX1FS9N/ref=asc_df_B07JX1FS9N/?tag=googleshopc0c-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=323583900182&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13088517300775865223&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001588&hvtargid=pla-1417246421474&psc=1

Holds enough gear for an unplanned night out in the bush.

I've been using the Salomon Bonatti Jacket. You may need to size up, but it does feature a back panel that "spreads a bit". It's waterproof, breathable and stows down into a small pack when you're not wearing it - https://amzn.to/3Raw0PC

I wonder if something like this would fit your Duro 15 and work for you?

Extra small fits 10 - 20 liter packs.

If so, then you could just wear a normal-sized jacket.
