Garmin - which one (Read 967 times)

It looks like there's an updated 405. The 405CX should be out in the next month or two. http://garmin.blogs.com/my_weblog/2009/04/make-every-mile-count-with-forerunner-405cx.html A new 300 series is on it's way too!
      Here's the new 300 series link: http://garmin.blogs.com/my_weblog/2009/04/waterproof-forerunner-310xt-goes-the-extra-mile-for-multisport-athletes.html
I would say that restocking chances are slim to no way. The 310 replaces the 305, so they aren't making 305's anymore. Deals to be had -- use google product search. http://www.google.com/products
        Thank you!

I wouldn't go that far. My 405 isn't a total disaster, it is actually pretty good, with a few issues. However, if I were buying a new one I'd go for the 305.
I also disagree with the disaster label. I received the 405 as a gift, and have been really pleased with it. I had one issue originally, and after upgrading the firmware have had 0 issues. It isn't perfect, but it is pretty good. Having tried on the 305 before, I would not opt for it. May as well strap a laptop to my forearm. I'll take some flack for that, but really, I think the form factor on the 305 is ridiculous. But some people love it, I guess.

Prices on the 310 look to be VERY high (405ish) at least initially (they were on the 305 too when it came out). I sort of doubt the price will drop further on the 305 given the demand for the older model. As far as the 305 being a ridiculous form factor, I'd agree if I were wearing it to dinner or to a business meeting. As a running watch, its just fine for me.

I ran a mile and I liked it, liked it, liked it.
