I worked an XC race this past weekend where one of our girls collapsed as she came toward me at the halfway point as a result of, as Mikey says, having gone out too fast and being tuckered. It scared the @$#% out of me, but it never crossed my mind that anyone in the race would have or should have stopped. Another coach ran over and helped me with her, and a cart was there within 30 seconds to take her to the medic tent. While there, I noted a fairly steady stream of overly tuckered girls being carted in who were fine after some water and a few deep breaths and a smattering of tears.
Obviously, the NMU woman's intentions were good, and that's nice. But the story is a tad overblown and dramatic.
Sorry to be that chick.

Not at it at all.
Oh, that's such a sweet story. And obviously that coach is great at encouraging a competitive spirit.

She was "in sight of the finish lline" the story said her coach was 400m from the finish, so didn't see it happen.

Can you run there in 50s or less?
It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

If my daughter did that, I'd make her do 300 pushups, with her brother sitting on her back.
one arm or two?
it's all good. I like your new avatar, but I miss your old one too!
I miss the old one too, but we lost Bailey over the summer and seeing a picture of him every time I looked at this site was hard.
((TJoseph)) oh I am so sorry for your loss.
Thanks Ilene
Two, if I felt that her apology was sincere.
