Recent transplantee getting back in the game. (Read 58 times)

Hello all. Newbie here + recently turned 50 and had a kidney transplant in Dec. I'm coming off a 4 year hiatus from running due to my kidney disease putting the kibosh to that. I was cleared by my transplant team to start running again in April. Obviously, it hasn't been easy getting back into it. Any other transplantee's here that could give some advice? My red blood cells/HGB are lower than normal which will be a lifetime issue but I don't believe enough to make that much a difference with stamina, possibly??? I can run for about 3 minutes before having to walk for a minute or so then picking back up. Advice? Take it slow?

    Anyone? Thank you.

With the massive caveat that I know nothing about kidney transplant impact and/or health...

One the best ways to build you 'return-to-running' base is brisk walking.  Miles and miles of walking is a low-impact running base builder.

Acceptable at a dance, invaluable in a shipwreck.
