Popliteus tendinitis.......? (Read 613 times)

So I have reviewed previous posts regarding tendinitis in the back of the knee area and my problem doesn't seem to be getting any better. I have a pain in the back side of the knee when my leg goes forward in the stride (taking the next step). Today, after two weeks off, the pain started at about 1.6 miles. This is truely aggravating me. Stretching, ice and Ibuprofin have not made any difference. In the 6 weeks since the injury occured, I am able to go from .5 miles to 1.6 miles...... I have another doctor appointment tomorrow and I will be asking for a referral for a specialist. Has anyone experienced this before? This year brought me from hating running to loving it and now I miss it! Any help would be great!

I have had back-of-the-knee pain, which I believed to be popliteus tendinitis. I think the best thing you can do is to avoid activities which cause the discomfort. You can take a look at my log. I first had symptoms after my marathon on 11/10. It wasn't until I took almost 2 weeks off from running, did it feel better. Shorter rest intervals did not do the trick. During this time, I walked and rode the upright stationary bike (no discomfort during these activities).
