It feels a little early to start the thread but since the drawing for the lottery is today, I thought I'd start it.

      Who won the lottery today?

      vegefrog

I did! I entered the lottery when it was open as an afterthought to get myself motivated to run again...and of course I won! Guess I better start running Sucks because my fiance didn't get in, but I guess that means I will have an awesome Sherpa!!

I'm excited!! Goal is to BQ!!

I got in too!  This will be my first full since 2011.  My goal is to just finish upright with dignity and enjoy the atmosphere!

              I'm in too!

Hi folks - I'm in, but not by lottery.  I got in through the lottery in 2016, but suffered a torn meniscus and had to defer to this year.  This will be my 3rd NYC Marathon - 2014 & 2015.  Such a great race!

I'm in and pacing again.  3:40 pace group.  This will be my 12th consecutive NYCM and I think 4th or 5th as a pacer.

Here to answer any questions people might have :-)

                    Welcome back!

This will be my sixth NYCM.  I've been struggling with motivation, having just finished two spring marathons.  But I'm slowly getting my New York groove back.  Hanging my medals in my living room for training inspiration is helping.

My marathon PR (3:22:56) is at NYCM, but I'm hoping for something in the 3:30 neighborhood this year.  I ran just over that at Eugene two months ago, (a race I highly recommend) so I feel like that's an achievable goal.

It's been hot and humid here in D.C., so training has been rough.

Can no wait for NYC. This will be my third straight NYC marathon and hopefully I am finally able to figure out that last 8 miles of the race. The last two years I definitely fell apart a bit here. I don't think I can PR here but I hope to run a New York PR ( 2:33) here this year.

If you are curious you can follow my training leading up to it bubbaruns.blogspot.com and I can also help you train for this race as well as I coach several athletes. Good luck to all and 14 weeks to go to get those miles in!

I selected my transportation and baggage - early morning ferry from Staten Island and poncho.  Really hoping Kevin Hart ends up in my corral.  And, I'm guessing he'll get a lot of good comedy material from running the marathon.

Otherwise, marathon training in the mid-Atlantic in the summer is miserable but I'm adapting to the heat and humidity.  This past week, I made grounds mentally convincing myself I can run harder than I have been.

Just curious...  Why do you think NYCM has been harder for you than Boston?  I know most runner's consider the course harder.  But, I checked out your blog and you're obviously a strong runner.  So, I'm wondering why you're doubtful about PRing there.

I'm in and going for 2:44ish goal pace, went from 3:15 a few years ago and hoping to see a couple RAers there. Was a big deal to time qualify, for me.

Visiting as a tourist now 10 years later after growing up in Middle-East NJ shore-ish for 17 years is strange, but super excited and training plan starts next week.

I've been noticing ads for the NYCM windbreaker jacket:

                            http://www.newbalance.com/nyc-marathon-windcheater-jacket/?ICID=so_NYRRORGNYCMJACKET_R_0906

I'm assuming this is "the jacket".

Wasn't the marathon cancelled in 2012?

Yes.  Not sure why you're asking but if it's because I have a medal, the race sent registrants their medal and shirt.  Runners who returned to run the next year also got a rubber bracelet with New York City Marathon 2012/New York City Marathon 2013 imprinted on it.
