My first was my fastest and I don't even know the exact time because I didn't really give an eff about marathons and, as a result, didn't train for another one for eons.

Sorry to rain on this progress parade.

Hey MangoMunch, can you provide details on the watch? thinking of replacing my 405.

I got the "basic" Forerunner 210 (no footpod or HRM).

      Runners run

Now if you say the fractions  don't matter, consider this : what if you ran a 2:04.22.13 and world famous Ryan Hall runs a 2:04.22.16   I bet you  would be posting those fractions of a second ALL DAY LONG.  So be nice to the fraction people, to them it is important and times are all relative to the person running right??

--YES.  In that instance, hundredths of a second Would indeed matter!  It would matter alot!    But not yet... I still have to reduce my Marathon time by...   1:55:05:17 .  .....There is some work to be done on my part... Wink

--Also, I am Goooooooogling "picoseconds".  I have been out of college for 20+ years now and forgotten what they are, lol

No actually they wouldn't.  As DoppleBock pointed out to me a couple of years ago, road racing rules round times up to the next second anyway.  What would matter is if you actually crossed the line in front of Mr. Hall in the same race.

To the OP, what was your blogger's first marathon and goal marathon? Does that goal seem unrealistic now?

Yup 3:59.01 mile on the roads is a 4:00 mile

                  not bad for mile 25

I'm not an accountant or an actuary but every day I work with phenomenon that occur on the timescale of 15 picoseconds up to about a tenth of a milisecond...hundredths of a second seem like a huge amount of time to me...

                    In your running?  Impressive.

                    Did we win?

First marathon will be in four weeks.

My training is going so well, I think I may manage a PR!

Thats one of the dangers of being fast to begin with ... Smile I started out with 5:59 and am now at 3:56.
