I just don't understand the comprehension shorts.

Skorts with compression shorts are way more comfortable. However, I used to run in shorts that bunched up. I lost weight ... about 25 pounds over the winter, and now, those shorts do not bunch up. They are big, and I am wearing them again. My suspicion is that certain athletic clothes do not run true to size. They are probably designed by men who haven't a clue. So, either lose weight, or go to a larger size, or go to a men's running short. If it makes you more comfortable, just do it.
