I not really one to give advice as I have only ran two previous marathons. I will be in SLC but will be running the half (I am preparing for the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in June!). for my first marathon I ran a 4 hr. 6 minute time and had a wonderful time the entire race! I also ran/walk most of the race at a ratio starting at 5 minutes running and 1 minute walking and ended up increasing the ratio to 10 minutes running and 1 minute walking about halfway through the race. For my second, I tried less of the run/walk tactic and ran more but actually had a slightly worse time (both meanings of 'time') 4 hr. 11 min. I struggled through the final miles and felt the worst I have ever felt post-race. The best thing you can do is stick with what you have done for your long runs in your training--don't try anything new at this point. Set your goals based on previous experience and your current training for this race--Be realistic and positive in your goal setting. Best of luck on Saturday!
Sorry I caught this thread a bit late. I will be running the half marathon also. Good luck on Sat. Post a report if your up to it, I enjoy reading them.
