      Too soon?

I think I'm starting to get emails from the race so I thought I'd start the thread even through we're 20+ weeks out.

I'm running ~50 miles/week but won't officially consider myself training for the race until the end of the month.  I'm using a coach I found through Hudson Elite.  My goal as always is to PR.  Smile  But, of course, that'll depend on so many factors.

      not bad for mile 25

It looks like Molly Huddle is in!

Excellent.  She may be great at the marathon distance.  Hope so.

          Who else is in?

I'm in! But I'm not sure if it is a good idea. My "A" race is a Half Ironman on Sept. 18, so I will not be able to train for the NYC Marathon like I should. I need to be getting in a lot of cycling and swimming over the next few months and will only be able to run only 35-45 miles a week until the end of September. So I'm not looking to PR this time. This will be my 6th time; I ran in 1979, 1980, 2011, 2013 and 2015. Never PR'd here, but my last two were sub 4 hour which was my goal. I'm still hoping I can  BQ so maybe I'll target a 4:20 time? Too soon to say right now.

Since my focus is on tri training, I will not be following any specific marathon training plan, but I hope to incorporate some elements of Pfitzinger's 55 plan, mostly doing the long runs at MP that are part of that plan.

I am already bummed that my training and vacation plans conflict with the NYRR 20-mile marathon training runs. I did one last year and really found it worthwhile.

Hope everyone else is looking forward to training!

Thanks for starting this.  Never too soon!  I'm in, and this will be my first NYC.  Threads like this are a great resourse to learn the ins and outs from the veterans.

It looks like Molly Huddle is in!

I saw her run the BAA 5k this year.  If she can marathon like she can 5k, she'll be a force to be reckoned with.

                good luck all!

                  I'm in.

I'll be an official pace leader again this year.  Not sure of my pace yet, maybe 3:40 or so.

This is my 10th or maybe 11th NYCM now.

                  Looking forward to it!

I'm in.  Got in through the lottery.  1st time running a standalone marathon.  I have done 2 ironmans, so I am looking forward to the challenge.

Swim , Bike, and Run A LOT

I'm in. First NYC marathon, I think 7th overall marathon, and first since 2013. I'm planning on Hansons, most likely the beginner plan. I've been loosely following the early weeks through the spring. I am also moving my family from northern VA to Denver in the end of July, so we'll see how well I handle training together with all of that. PR would be <3:43, but I am hoping to be under 3:40; we'll see how training goes.

I am! It'll be my fifth marathon and first NYC. Got in through the lottery.

I'm going to follow Hansons Beginner with some extra miles in the first few weeks. Goal is sub-4:00 or die trying.

Thanks for starting the thread! I'm still new to RA, but I always like following other people's training.

                          More American elites announced yesterday!

And, if you haven't already, you only have a few more days to select/change your transportation and baggage options before NYRR chooses them for you.

Elites of Those are Ritzenhein and Conley!

I decided it's time to start looking for a hotel...  Has anyone stayed in one in or around the finish line (Central Park/Times Square/Theater District) with a refrigerator and/or microwave?  In the past two years, I've stayed at The Pearl, which is a great hotel and has both.  But, I thought I should explore other options before booking.

Also, soooooo looking forward to Molly Huddle's marathon debut!  Worst part of running the race will be not being able to watch that live.
