Cobra Commander Keen
Watson - Oy vey. Here's hoping for a swift recovery. Maybe rotator cuff issues?
Zebano - Tracks are nice for that (so long as they actually are the correct distance), but most races aren't on tracks - or even completely flat surfaces of any kind, so hitting the roads for workouts can have major benefits all its own. I've also switched to almost all of my workouts being purely based on time. I like it much better that way.

Following a thread in a foreign language is far easier than posting . I'll get back to you over the weekend, I hope. I've got a "Not-a-race"-report in the pipeline ...

I'm sure. I struggle to follow the thread in my native language...
Everyone's gotta running blog; I'm the only one with a POOL-RUNNING blog.
And...if you want a running Instagram where all the pictures are of cats, I've got you covered.
Watson - bummer, hope it's sooner rather than later.
Ugh, was feeling better but then got worse again so the first round of antibiotics didn't quite kick this sinus infection. Now on a second round... hopefully that sorts it. Running feels OK but my HR is just tracking 6-8bpm higher than it should be so I'm just going to keep running on feel.

"CONSISTENCY IS KING"
Mark - take a few days off. Sickness just lingers for me if I continue running.

Had 3 days off last week. Didn't really make a difference. Last time I had this the doc said running was fine, just don't over-exert yourself, and I got better within a few days while still running.
Hot Weather Complainer
watson - That sucks, I hope the recovery is as quick as possible.
Mark - could be you need more days off but you know your body. When I have a cold that isn't bad enough to stop running but enough to make me feel less than 100% I just keep the pace right down.
I'll do a Mark and update the race day weather forecast 8 days ahead - currently it is rain and light winds. Could be better but light winds is the key part of that forecast. I'd prefer rain to hot sun too obviously, but only light rain. So only a few requests. I'll update this every day...yep it's taper madness time

Yeah, when I attempted a run last Wed I felt pretty garbage and hence I took Thurs off. This week has felt ok, definitely not at top form and the HR has been a bit high, but for the most part running has been pretty enjoyable which is a good sign.
Looking forward to the daily weather forecast updates. For reference the long range forecast (10 days) tends to get updated around 12-1pm and the shorter range forecast (5 days) is normally around 11am.
Sorry to hear that Mark. Just keep the easy days extra easy and you'll get better eventually. If you have the same gunk I had it took a full 2 weeks.
So this thread inspired me to run my intervals from bridge to stop light (uphill) yesterday. Per GPS I did ~1400m repeats which would be a first for me.
Mark, I find it hilarious you know what hour the forecasts get updated at. That's some excellent powers of observation.
Keen - I started working on a non-computer assisted post-mortem for our game. I'll send it to you when it's complete. FWIW I had considered Qe7 at multiple points and it looks like it would work but I conflated it in my head with some other lines where my knight wasn't on g6 so you could open the position with a g6 push and things got very very scary.
1600 - 5:23 (2018), 5k - 19:33 (2018), 10k - 41:20 (2021), half - 1:38:57 (2018), Marathon - 3:37:17 (2018)
Your forecasts only get updated once a day? Weak sauce. I guess that's what you get for being on the wrong side of the world.
RIP Milkman
Yeah I assumed they don't have meteorologists over there, it's just whether a kiwi bird sees its shadow

That’s for the long range forecasts where they just update their guesses once a day. For the current day they get updated far more regularly- my favourite update is when they predict torrential rain and it’s fine and calm so they update the forecast retrospectively and pretend it never happened.
Update: forecast is still rain and light wind. I have some faith it may be correct since it’s the same for 4 days in a row
Well I guess the second round of antibiotics are doing the job as I woke up feeling great this morning and my HR overnight was way more normal too. Gonna do this 3000m race tonight although I’ll dial it back a bit if I’m not feeling quite right.
Good luck Mark!
I heard that the water in toilets flush in the opposite direction in the southern hemisphere, does that mean you also run the wrong way around the track?
