2018 Sub-3. No rules. Run. (Read 792 times)

Slammin Nimmals Boyd good to hear from you. I want you to post up that 1980 jazzercize video you are in .

Mikey I thought I was nearly recovered but it started aching on yesterdays run. Im guilty of not taking enough time off. My hammy on the same side sometimes aches too. Yes Im doing some bodyweight squat lunge things. Will use my downtime for some core too. My cycle starts in about 11 days so man I hope my calf comes right.

    RIP Milkman

Nimmals - I am one of the newcomers and if you do stick around would love to know more about your past, including this jazzercise video Piwi is talking about.

Mikkey - 5'9". I think 155 was probably overweight for me, at least in runner's terms, as I had a little bit of that "skinny fat" belly developing. My natural weight is probably closer to 145, so 138 was quite a drop for racing weight. My wife yells at me constantly that I'm too skinny, but I told her to not worry, fat JMAC is right around the corner once marathons cease.

Cal - First I get hit over the head for being a snowflake millennial, now it's because I'm trying to be a hero. I guess I just can't win . Anyway, I did take 2 weeks off for my foot and it felt a lot better. Now, it doesn't really hurt when I run, and it's improving ever so slightly day by day, which for me is a green light. If it starts getting worse at any point, I will shut it down before real training picks up.

Nimmals: Good to have you here, I remember you from the old RWOL forums.

Some great racing on tap this weekend: the CIM crew, Weatherboy and his half, and St. Jude's where TN Weather and Flash in the Pan will be running. For those not around here back then Flash ran a 2.35 there last year.

Is Flash the guy that runs like 110 mpw and is usually destroying the leaderboard on RWOL Strava?

I think so. And I see that he is exactly your age (millennial!) but has three (!!!) kids! I guess having those three kids is what allows him to run 110 miles per week at 6:30 average pace Smile

Yes, that's the guy. He may be in even better shape than last year but looks like it will be a warm day for St. Jude's so we will see.

Wow! Some pleasant surprise - according to the official email from CIM:

                  ...

Live results will be available on race day HERE. Live results will have nine splits--every 5k and at the halfway point.

                  ...

I guess that's why the cost of the early registration for next year race was raised by $10 Smile

Best of luck to Swim/Cal & Weather this weekend.

Swim: 2:3X:XX, anything under 240 would be a good starting point so that you can really unleash yourself next time around.

Cal: Anything below 3:10:00 would be impressive, and I expect I'll be impressed... not ruling out a sub3 show though.

Weather: 1:16:XX, if the weather cooperates you might even get 5:47pace out of yourself.

Nimmals: Great to have you back around too. Have a fun recon run this weekend. Be great if you and your crew were willing to post on here next year as hopefully there'll be a bunch of us engaged in some fast-ish folly.

Weather - Looks like high 60s, humid and overcast at race time.  Hopefully you will dodge the sun for the race.  Go for your 1:17 goal!

Swim - Good luck on the PR
