Finally under 1:30! (Read 638 times)

I ran the (hilly!) Queens Half Marathon in NYC on Sunday.  It was great weather, mid/high 60s, mild humidity that did not feel bad at all, and I had a great race.

I set out to run under or at 1:30 since that's my half marathon PR (which was a flat-ish course).  I KILLDED it and ran 1:26:46 with energy left over to turn it into a long training run --I tacked on another 7 miles at a mid 8 pace to get to just over 20 miles in under 2:30.

    I finished 99th out of 5,090.  Top 2% =  not too shabby!

I feel great; super pleased and am much more confident about running a BR in NYC this November.  I need to run 3:10.   Now it feels like it is much more of a possiblity if I keep up the training and run a smart race (ie, not go out in the fast too hard, as I've done in the past!).  The marathon estimators say I can run 3:02 but I seriouiously doubt that, we'll see.  Previous PR was 3:30 but I had gone out too hard and fast and burned out too early.

    Anyway, I'm pretty psyched.

I just wanted to brag a bit.
