Eric: Is this site affiliated with you? It seems to have all your content/tools available. http://www.running4recovery.com/index.html I came across it in a Google search - Just about everything on your site (including everyones' profiles) is indexed in Google through this site.

    See how they run...

      Here's another one.... http://www.running4artemis.com/

And another one - again these are all indexing everything that everyone posts on Google - is this what you are intending to do? I was so turned off by Active.com and the coolrunning fiasco. Can you let us all know how extensive your little website's reach is? How many different names does this site go by? How many different sites carry all of this content? http://26m.runningahead.com/

        One day at a time

I don't understand why you care who uses Eric's tools? What does this have to do with the CR situation?

          Outside Lane

I wasn't so concerned about what was being done with Eric's tools - it was the content that the users were writing (including profiles) that I was asking about..... I just thought there should be a bit more disclosure that everything that is being is posted is available on a number of different sites and is also indexed on Google. Maybe I was just naive but it surprised me that everyone who made their profiles and logs available were "really" making them available to all....and not just the registered users of this site. Why would all forums posts on the site - and all logs need to be indexed in Google? Eric - you can prevent that, can't you? Oh well... As far as CR goes - I think they misled their users - and they continue to mislead their users. Eric presents himself as being pretty straight-forward - I was just looking for some feedback regarding the various forms this site takes across the web.... Confused

My understanding is that these sites were an experiment in "skins" that Eric undertook a while back. It's all on the same computer at his place, just different ways of accessing the database. I'm sure Eric would be happy to tell you about it. Running4Recovery was discussed briefly in the forums last year, if I remember correctly, so it's not something new coming up.

              eric :)

beatlemaniac, I get emails every so often with all kinds of requests. I turned down all but three of them: partnership with Running4Recovery.com, 26m.com and Runner's World. RW has a copy of my code so they're on their own. R4R and 26m needed a running log for their site and I agreed to skin my site for them. If you dug a little deeper, you would have noticed that they are all subdomains of RunningAHEAD.com. So what does skinning mean? It's like having a custom face plate for your cell phone. Having a red or blue phone doesn't mean you have a different phone. The device underneath is still the same even though you put on a different face plate. The same thing applies for these various subdomains. I just changed the layout to match the layouts of 26m.com and r4r.com. These "sites" all run off of my server, which means I'm the only one with access to them. Since they are in fact the same physical site, I didn't publicize it. I hope I answered some of your questions. I need to go give my fish a bath.

Eric, thanks for being so open about the stuff you're involved with -- and for being so responsive in general. It really helps make it a very enjoyable site/toolkit you're making available to us here.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

From what I found, there is a Running4Recovery group here at http://www.runningahead.com/groups/R4R that started in late June. If you're interested, why not check them out?

My primary question here had to do with the content (profiles/logs) being indexed on Google (not the skins - or the tools - or the subdomains). I appreciate your response. I have chosen not to make my log or profile public with the world at large. I love the log - and I appreciate the tools you have made available to all. Thanks for the feedback. Have fun in the bath with your fish.
