ideas/thoughts on training plan (Read 157 times)

comfortably hard

Yeah, I'm no expert, but in terms of intervals, what happyfeet said works for me. 6 x 1 mi, 3 x 2 mi, 8-12 x 800s (alternating slightly under HM pace, and around MP, or more generally, just a few minutes "hard", a few minutes "easier") have been staple workouts for me for half training. In terms of pacing/rest, if you haven't done much interval work, start conservatively and finish the workout strong. You'll figure out pacing after doing a couple.

Also, I like to mix up the type of workout. Do some at roughly HM pace or a little slower with shorter recoveries and some below HM pace (shorter intervals/longer recoveries). Regardless of exactly how you construct the workout, I think just getting in miles at around HM pace will get you pretty far.
