One minute the chase pack was 20 meters back, the next minute they were 200 meters back. You might think the lead pack surged, but judging by the times at miles one and two the lead pack held steady and the chase pack couldn't hold (4:13) pace. Very interesting stuff.

To a small degree, the constitution of the two groups changed. Fam went out with the lead back, for example. That guy has so much heart.
In the interview he talked about the 5th Ave. Mile, how he was smiling the whole time.

I'd like to amend that.
Constitution is a term which encompasses the character's physique, toughness, health and resistance to disease and poison. The higher a character's Constitution, the more hit points that character will have. Constitution also is important for Fortitude saves, the Concentration skill, and fatigue-based general checks. Constitution also determines the duration of a barbarian's rage. Unlike the other ability scores, which render the character unconscious or immobile when they hit 0, having 0 Constitution is fatal.

Mount Tambora in the Dutch East Indies blows its top explosively during an eruption, killing upwards of 92,000 and propelling thousands of tons of aerosols (Sulfide gas compounds) into the upper atmosphere (stratosphere). The high level gases reflect sunlight and cause the widespread cooling (known as a volcanic winter) and heavy rains of 1816, causes snows in June and July in the northern hemisphere, widespread crop failures, and subsequently famine, which is why 1816 is later known as the Year Without a Summer.
