Brooks Glycerin vs Ghost vs Asics Nimbus (Read 391 times)

My last three pairs of shoes have been Glycerins, and I am very happy with them. I was wondering however how they compare with the Brooks Ghost (which is also a neutral shoe, I believe) and the ASICS Nimbus (besides the latter being a little more expensive). I'm 170 lbs and 5' 9"

    Personal bests (bold = this year): 5K - 23:27 / 5M - 38:42 / 10K - 49:31 (track) / 10M - 1:24:26 / HM - 1:51:17 / M - 3:58:58

Next races: NYC Marathon, Nov 2014

I wear the glycerins 9, have a pair of the 10's but not sure I like that plastic part under the arch. Love the 9's and have the ghost also, they are just a lighter version of the glycerin, less cushioning. Not a fan of the ascis, had a pair and they hurt my feet.

I tried (ran in) the Glycerins and the Nimbus when I bought my last pair.  I went with the Nimbus over the Glycerins because they felt like they had a bit more cushion and response in the forefoot, and the arch felt a bit more supportive.  I liked the stable feel of the Glycerin a bit more and they were a touch wider in the forefoot but didn't feel as comfortable under the forefoot.  I could as easily have chosen the Glycerins.

I think you'll find that the Brooks Ghost5's are more flexible than the Glycerines, but not as cushioned. Ghosts might be more useful to use for both easy and tempo runs (maybe even interval/5k pace), whereas you would get more support with the Glycerines.
