I only got it so I could browse RunningAhead wherever I go (see top picture) or to watch movies during races with these: Except Grandma's, where they are banned. Wink As for aircraft, c'mon, it can get really boring up there and anyway, those things fly themselves, right? Wink Wink Anyway, my old iPod was dying. What am I supposed to do, face the cruel world iPodless? I think not!

I'm really tempted to purchase one. Is surfing the internet as good as they say on one of those. How much did it set you back and from where? Looks pretty good on your photo.

First impression: This thing is so freakin' cool! The 16GB set me back $375, with corporate discount, from Apple Store. Retail is $399. Pricey, but that flash memory is expensive and makes it much more reliable. Wait 6 months and you'll get a 32 GB one for less, I expect. Still, my old iPod (without which I would go crazy) is dying so Mary Ann got it for my birthday. Out of the box, I had it synced with my iTunes library in minutes, and getting online via my wi-fi was a breeze, no problems at all. The 16 GB is a factor, especially if you want to watch videos. I managed this by using the "sync only checked songs and videos" option. I don't need all 23 episodes of "Heroes" on there, 5 at a time will do just fine. The screen is really sharp and quite nice to watch. Surfing the internet is really easy--it's Safari, after all. Typing on the touchscreen can be tedious but once you've bookmarked your favorites, it's easy. Just tap twice to zoom in. It also has calendar, contacts, YouTube, and photos. Now I'm using Handbrake to put DVDs into my iTunes library. I record my porn TV shows or movies to a DVD, then I can either watch at home, on my laptop, or on the iPod. This is now officially one of the Coolest Things Ever. Right up there with GPS and TiVo.

Well I get tired of dragging my laptop around with me so I think this would be perfect. What a great idea by Apple. So much cheaper then the smallest of laptops. I mean if you think about it, what do you use the computer the most for at home anyway? Surfing the internet. My biggest worry about the iTouch is getting a virus on the thing. My computer I can just reload the software. What do I do with the iTouch then and of course you have the battery issue. What is handbrake?

                    What is handbrake?
Handbrake is a free application that converts DVDs to mp4, so you can put it on the iPod. Works great: http://handbrake.m0k.org/ As far as a virus goes, that's possible. You'd just need to use the Software Restore in iTunes.

Well I made the plunge and purchased one. Now I have to find some wifi hotpots in columbus to use the thing for tomorrow and Sunday. It is sooo cool. I was surfing the web while I was in line today at the grocery store. You ask why. Because I could and people are slow baggers at Biggs. UTube rocks on the thing. I am going to go look at the price on the Heroe's downloads as my TIVO missed a couple of episodes.

Have you done the zoom thing? It's the coolest. Put your thumb and forefinger together and touch the screen, then pull them apart, and...zoom! It's so...Apple
