HTML help (Read 379 times)

I started a new group, Boston 2010.  I copied the HTML that I used when creating the Boston 2009 group homepage and pasted it to create the 2010 homepage.  When viewing the homepage, it appears fine.

Yet when browsing for the group in the Training Groups section, all the HTML stuff shows up in the group description.   I don't think this was an issue when I created the 2009 group last year.

I don't want to make this place look messy.  What did I do wrong, and how do I clean it up?

      btb1490,

The group summary allows users to get a sense of what your group is about without going into the group.  It does not allow HTML, which is why all the tags that you added are being displayed as text.

If the homepage is blank, which is what happens when you first create a group, it displays the group's summary instead  The homepage allows HTML content and so it displays the HTML in the summary correctly.

To fix the problem, you should edit the homepage and paste the summary content there so that the homepage has its own stuff.  After that, edit your group's preferences and remove all the HTML tags from the summary and then everything will display properly.  Hope this helps!

Got it, and fixed!  Sorry to take your time, and thank you!
