New BMI calculator proposed (BBC) (Read 342 times)

Better I Leave

Just went through hydrostatic body fat analysis and came in at 13.5% body fat which is very good for my age (53 come March). According to the old and new BMI scales, I am overweight at 25.04 and 25.68 respectively.

      Hmm

      I went from 22.74 to 22.33

      So um yeah

      We are the music makers,

And we are the dreamers of dreams,

      Wandering by lone sea-breakers,

          And sitting by desolate streams;

      World-losers and world-forsakers,

On whom the pale moon gleams:

Yet we are the movers and shakers

Of the world for ever, it seems.

"The change means that some tall people previously deemed "overweight" are "normal" under the new proposal, and some short people who were "normal" are now "overweight"."

Pays to be tall now, I guess.

as if the world weren't already biased against the short.

        SHORT ACCEPTANCE SHORT ACCEPTANCE

Why is there a picture of Brad Pitt for an article about BMI? I'm not complaining but it's confusing.

My BMI stayed the same - could stand to eat a donut but normal.

My favorite part is when they tell us this guy is not a doctor and the research is not based on any real life observations. At least tell me he stayed at a Holiday Inn once.

all for the propsal; left Overweightville (@25.09) and hopped into Normalcy (24.82).

            My leg won't stop mooing.

because when he bulked up for Fight Club, his BMI was in the "overweight" category

              Not dead. Yet.

Still underweight even though my BMI increased .5.

                  I don't think I am underweight.

                  Oh well.

Still obese according to the calculator... put in my ideal weight calculated by a physician based on body fat percentage, and it is still in the overweight range  under both calculation methods.

LOL-It's right there in the first paragraph... My answer to their rhetorical question is that I've heard that zero times. Smile

My goal weight is 13#s lighter than I am currently and would have me wearing a size 4 (which is a pretty damned small size on any woman)...and still in the heavier half of "healthy."  My body fat will likely be in the 18-20% range at that weight, given what my body fat is right now.

I just checked again. I'm still fat.

I've heard of age graded rankings for running. How about BMI graded rankings??
