Importing saved running route to Garmin (Read 400 times)

I give up. I drew and saved a running route through the tool here. Very nice. Very easy. I now have the options to "publish" or "GPX." The GPX prompts me to open a text file. There has to be a way to take this nice course and send it to my Garmin so that I can follow the route without getting lost. I've run around the internet looking for answers and it's all gibberish. Anyone? Bueller?
