SMART Approach

There are exceptions where a time trial may be suitable to reassess fitness to adjust training paces if you haven't raced in a long time.

Of course... this is a standard in my plans and always schedule 2 races in a training plan before a goal race or occasional time trial on the road to assess or monitor fitness. However, I don't coach anyone running less than 20 miles a week or not on a trend to.

My avg week is around 10-15 miles with 4 days including a Sunday long run.  Last 3 long runs I ran 4.9, 5.2 then 5.7 miles felt good but not sure how much to increase during the week and Sunday to get more miles safely as a newbie runner
