62,000!!!! (Read 566 times)

Better I Leave

That is the number of cigarettes I would have smoked in the last 8 1/2 years had I not quit when I started running...so instead of smoking 62,000 cigarettes over 8 1/2 years...I ran 10,000 miles.

It was amazing to hit 10,000 lifetime miles on my run today...it's not something I ever thought possible!

Very nice. From one former smoker to another (7.5 years)...Well done. **high fives knifey**

Congratulations! 10,000 miles is amazing, as are you!

          +1

been about 5 years or so since i read the illustrated version; still cigarette free.

I bought my nephew an elephant for his room. He said, "Thanks". I said, "Don't mention it".

            I agree - congrats - I quit in 1999 (after 11 years) - Didn't start running until 2003

Seriously, though.  Way to go!  You are an inspiration.

                  Excellent!

As a former smoker myself I have to keep in mind:

We are always only one puff away from being addicted again.

Congratulations! That is impressive. Great achievements -- the quitting, the running, and the number of halfs!

Thanks again everyone and kudos to my fellow ex-smokers!

And Joe, this is so true...I always say I'm just 2 days off in a row (from running) to smoking. I would hope that wouldn't really be the case but I don't want to find out!
