Horsehair Plaster (Read 1050 times)

Does anyone have any experience with the dangers of allergic reactions to horsehair plaster? We finally found out that our walls in our house were in fact, made with horsehair plaster. Not a problem for most people, but our youngest is very allergic to animals, horses being the most severe. Once again , Aaron is sick, same usual symptoms mostly lung issues and this even with his being on Singulair, Nasonex, and Flovent each day for the past 6 weeks. Now he's on an antibiotic and a cough medicine. Poor kid looks like he's been awake for days on end with the bags under his eyes. Our allergy specialist claims that his house was made with horsehair plaster and he's allergic, he was able to seal up the walls and remove some of it and he's finally okay living in the house. I'm just curious to find out if anyone else has ever heard of such a thing. At this point we just don't know what to do, short of moving, or ripping down walls.

Wow. My only idea might be to check with an asbestos abatement contractor, someone who might be able to seal up your walls. I can't imagine it'd be easy, though. did

Thanks Did...I know it's an odd situation - guess we'll be making lots of phone calls to figure this one out. Confused
