Ever had one of "those" days... (Read 588 times)

Yesterday after work I went out to run. Well, my mind wasn't really in it b/c I was trying to squeeze it in b/w a ton of other stuff. Then I get out there and my legs just felt numb during the first mile, and not the good numb...but a heavy, I got concrete boots on, my foot feels asleep numb. I tell myself to run through it and it will be better after the first mile...the 2nd mile was more of the same...then I saw a friend of mine and stopped to talk as he was walking with a group. Found out we were both signed up for a 5k in June and he wanted to race 1 mile to see where he stood compared to me (both just started running). So, I stopped my planned run and raced a mile...I felt horrible afterwards and guilty for not running my scheduled run. I shorted myself 2 miles and I really wasn't ready physically/mentally to race. Yeah I won..I ran 7:56 (might could have shaved off 6 more seconds) and he ran an 8:15. I am hurting bad this morning and I had to reschedule my rest day to today to recover from 3 stupid miles. I didn't care to know how fast I ran a mile or if I could run faster than my friend...the driving force was to cut my run short cause I just didn't feel like it.

Absolutely! Especially, when I'm not concentrating on my run. I'm worried about getting to the store to get bannanas, getting to T-ball with the glove and a snack, if I'm going to make my deadline at work, the spat with hubby, blah, blah, blah. It is usually combined with the fact that I have not fuled properly for my run (esp. now that is getting warmer) and have not rested at all. Plus, its a full moon! Get back up on that horse in the next day or two and you'll do fine.

everybody has those days. But they will pass, and you will forget all about them when you have one of "those other days" where you get out there and run 5 miles and feel so good that you tack on another 2-3 miles just because you can. I actually kind of had one of your days today, but I was able to run through it. I woke up late, missed my running club leaving so I ran the route backwards and met up with them halfway through. When we finished, I still needed a few more miles so I went off by myself. By the time I got to my turnaround point there, I felt great. When done, I was sooooo glad that I didnt just blow off the run (which had definitely run through my head).
