Ok, what exactly is the purpose of this field? I generally leave it blank without any problems, but was just curious as to its use. I've tried using it before, but then the course doesn't display the correct distance in my course list.

johnnypebs, Way back, before I added Google maps, you would fill in this field to set default distance for the course. For example, 5 miles for a 5 mile race. Then came Google maps. Some users pointed out that since they mapped out their route, the course should be smart enough to use the distance they mapped out instead of having to fill in this field. So, I did just that. Now, this field is used to override whatever distance you mapped out with Google map. So for example, if you created a route for a 5 mile race and it came out to be 4.8 miles, you can put in 5 miles in this field to override the 4.8 that you measured out. If you don't fill it out, then 4.8 miles will be used instead. Hopefully this clarifies it. eric
