What is your favorite type of race (Read 701 times)

My favorite race in High School was the 2 mile on the track but now I enjoy the 5k's and 10k's....especially if they are trail races. You feel so much faster as the trees rush by than on a long and endless chunk of asphalt. We will see if I like HM's after I run one this summer...and then on to the Full.

I've done more 5ks than any other distance (simply because there are more 5k races) and often place in my AG but found that a 10miler is a good balance between speed and endurance. I have one in May then another in June. We'll see if I change my mind. Undecided

"Only a few more laps to go and then the action will begin, unless this is the action, which it is."

Anything from 10k to HM. I hope to add "marathons" to my list of favorites in a couple of months Big grin

Targets 1) No injuries 2) Keep having fun 3) Some kind of PR

Half marathon on the road - flat, certified loop. Above is my favorite, but I like racing all distances between 5k-30k. Not crazy about the marathon, but am training for one anyway Confused (ego).
          Age 60 plus best times: 5k 19:00, 10k 38:35, 10m 1:05:30, HM 1:24:09, 30k 2:04:33
either 800 or 1500m on the track, or a hilly 5K - 5 miles. I love a nice XC course with a bit of single track and steep ups and downs.

Fun = Distance/Money The longer the distance, and the lesser the entry fee, the better!

Speed my steps along your path, according to your will.

It's really all about the 5K. For me, it's the perfect length for a race; not too short, not too long. That's why I love it so much. In track, my favorite is the 800m, though. A lot shorter than what I am used to, but I enjoy it the most. I'm pretty good at that one, too.
