First off I am new to the forum so thanks for having me.

My name is Jamie I am 27yrs old,  I am  5'10 and 86 kg (190 pounds)  I have always been stocky but as a teenager i was

reasonably fit i had a best beep test of mid 12's i played a lot of sport and was in good shape. Fast forward till I am 20 with the distraction of girls and partying the sport stopped and so did most the exercise i would try to go for the odd run but when ever i did id get sever back pain id maybe get 200 meters into a run and that was it crippling back pain would stop me in my tracks. Fast forward to today over the last year iv had a lot of chiro and pysio work done. although I am probably the most unfit iv ever been the time to change that is now.. SO i

was wondering if anybody could help me out with running drills or a  running program that they know of?

    Thanks Jamie

I suggest walking until you build some fitness.  Start with whatever distance is comfortable for you, then build up gradually.  You should be able to easily walk 2 or 3 miles before even trying to run.  You are carrying a lot of weight, and running may be too much for your body at this time.  I am also 5' 10", but weigh 150 lbs.  I would not be able to run 200 meters if I was carrying an additional 40 lbs.

I'm sure that somebody will recommend a C25K program.  Those programs are a structured way to get you to start slow, and build up gradually.  Many people like them.

Running is not the only way to get fit.  Try other sports - bicycling, swimming, snowshoeing, etc. They are all lower impact than running, and you might find something that you like and that does not cause pain.

      an amazing likeness

        Walk.

        30 minutes.

        Every day.

        Without fail.

Go as slow as needed to complete the 30min.

Then move to 60 min per day.

        Every day.

        Without fail.

You will start to crave moving through the space.

You'll notice things you've never noticed before: the sounds, the smells, the feel of sun on your face, the air changing in shadows.

Then 1 day you'll start jogging part of it.

        Then all of it.

Then 10 years will have passed and you've run over 18K miles.

        It's a great journey.

        Start tomorrow.

What milktruck says is solid advice.

I am currently following a similar plan as I come back to running after a long illness (not running related).  I have a 4 mile loop that I started walking and over time, I have begun running more and more of the loop.  I don't wear my Garmin and just enjoy the walk/run.  I am close to the point where I will run the entire thing but I am in no rush.  I am just enjoying the ride and the feeling of being active again while my body re-acclimates to running.  Simply move and enjoy the journey.

Rebuilding my aerobic base....racing next year.....nothing to see here....move along now.

            Milktruck is wise.

            That was very sound advice.
