Des Linden smashes 50K WR (Read 156 times)

I guess I should really make a new post, because this is bigger news than the 50K WR. (It won't get anywhere near the same coverage, though, because Des Linden.)

Aleksandr Sorokin broke Zach Bitter's 100-mile World Record last weekend, in his 100-mile debut. It was 11:19, now 11:15. And he kept running to break Zach's 12-hour WR as well.

I had a heads up on the attempt from an obscure podcast I follow, pre-race interview with Sorokin. He didn't actually say he was going for the WR, but based on his bona fides (24-hour world champion; 22:04 Spartathlon, second only to Kouros; fastest 100K in the world last year) I knew it was absolutely worth following. I'm glad I did!

And a thank you for posting the link on FB where I was able to follow his progress.
