Tun Tavern 177.5 miler (Read 621 times)

Okay I just wanted to post that I am a bit excited about what is about to occur. In 7 days I will be resting and prepping myself for 37.8+ miles a day for 4 days straight. If all goes really well I will follow this with a 26.2 miles at the Marine Corps Marathon. I will be running with 4 guys I have never met and hope that it all works out. We all have the common bond of being Marines. We are all nuts and ready to gain some attention for the Injured Marines Fund. I am super stoked. http://1775.weebly.com/index.html http://www.active.com/donate/teamsemperfi08/TunTavern The first is the home page for the run and the second is where you can donate if so compelled. As you can see we are short of our goal. The overall goal was just that a goal but how cool would it be for that value to be met. If we all gave a $1 then anothe Marine, Sailor, Soldier, or Airman could have a better chance at finding a new normalcy too his/her life. The organization is for the service members not the people running the organization. Wish me luck and if you are running the MCM and see me and my cohorts then give us a simple Semper FI as you pass by.

Hooorah! I haven't heard the phrase "Tun Tavern" in a lot of years. I caught the 177.5 reference, too. Nice. Good luck. Not that you're going to need it. Run slow. Bring beer.

Thank you for your help. I am getting very excited and withdrawn from all things but this event. I need to be very focused and I am greatful to do it!

I ran a nice 5K following my bad performance last week in Chicago. I finished in 19:06 while trying to pace a friend to go under 19 for his first time. He gave it a good try but came up a bit short. A nice slow 8-12 miler tomorrow then off for 2 days before flying out to Philly to begin my long run! Anmyone from Philly to DC, if you see 5 guys being followed by a van then you have found us. Pull over and give us a nice shout out.

              Bugs

Very cool. I would love to see your log not that I'm crazy enough to try and pull that stunt off. GOOD LUCK!

Yours is comparible. I have found the number of miles is important but I can not continually beat my body down. I have finished a marthon or 2 each month and generally keep my long runs down around 16-24 miles. My marathons are treated as long runs and up until Chicago had mostly been ran between 3:20 and 3:50. Chicago had me hurting after a bad diet week and lack of hydration finishing in 4:12. I will keep this post going as I run the run.

I fly out tomorrow! Will be out running with a police escort through Philly. Wish us all luck and again if you see 5 guys running anywhere between Philly and DC then give us a good old fashion Oorah or Semper Fi! If you choose instead to through something at us just remember we are Marines ands will hunt ya down!LOL
