>General Running>Looking Back
Have you ever looked back after a race or season and said "Those workouts made the difference." or "It is clear that this was the missing piece in my training." or "Going forward, I need to do more of this type of training and less of that."?
I see people making these observations all the time, but I can't seem to do it. If you have made such a connection at one time or another, I'd be interested in the story.

If your training is based on "Every Workout Has a Purpose" to improve yourself as a complete runner, you will see the gains in those areas when racing.
Personally, I do not do time trials as training runs. Nor do I enter a race for a training or tempo run. Any race is an all out effort. An all out effort in race conditions will expose any hole in my training, and will allow me to fix it.
