GreyBeard

Anyone know what he eats? He said in an interview on flotrack.com that they are high in sodium and that helped him with the cramping he endured. Just curious as most gels I see are carbs with little sodium and sometimes caffeine. I believe he said he had eaten 16 during the marathon - that's a lot....

    Imminent Catastrophe

I don't know what Ritz uses but Crank e-Gels have 220 mg sodium and 150 calories. I've used them in very hot conditions with good results. One caution--they're 50% more than most gel packs so if you eat the whole pack at once it may cause stomach upset.

"The most common question from potential entrants is 'I do not know if I can do this' to which I usually answer, 'that's the whole point'.--Paul Charteris, Tarawera Ultramarathon RD.
