Old, Slow, Happy

are these roads going north and south or east and west?? the north and south roads (in michigan too) have these crazy jogs because of the grid lines when they surveyed and laid out the Louisana purchase.
The roads are north/south. It really is where the old state line was. I think the early Ohio and Michigan roads did not match up. The "S" is usually about 150 feet long with two sharp 90 degree turns. On the major roads, the turns are now gradual enough that you can go at 60 mph with no problem.
Those s curves exist all over michigan and even here in Illinois. It is a result of the grid lines converging on the north pole and are a result of the surveying done following the purchase. (unless this is an old wives tale). They may be on the old state line, but I don't believe it is a result of the move...just chance...
          Rick, you out there?

Er...nothing? No wait, it's about the lack of nothing. It's about something in a training log, which has nothing to do with nothing. Doesn't belong HERE does it? My bad. Clowning around
