Mark - hey man, good to see you too! If I'm not mistaken, you joined up in one of the later years of RW? You've clearly progressed quickly and are posting some fast times. I need to learn about what you've been doing because it obviously works. Philly never made it over here? I was just thinking about him recently too. He's actually the only one from the forums I've ever met in person when we did Berlin HM.

Piwi Kiwi - I purchased NBA league pass this year for one reason, and one reason alone - access to all OKC Thunder games. Never really been a Cavs fan despite that's where I live...even more so now that they're awful to say the least. I've gone to 3 OKC games this year so far (in conjunction with travel). I scheduled a 25k race in Oklahoma on Jan 19th, just so I could go to a home game of theirs on Jan 17th.

JMac - yeah I'm a newbie that's been around a long time, ha. I'll be on the lookout for your '19 thread and I'll certainly post my history / goals and such.

I've been reading in the other sections, and I can't wait to read all of the many "Censored Inappropriate topic" discussions...wait I can't see them. Bummer.

DJ - big welcome back.  2017 and 2018 have been really inconsistent for me, so not much to report.

DJW - yeah I think I started up in late-2015... had some good success with HMs initially and ran a 1:18 in late-2016.  Then decided to do a marathon in 2017 and didn't get close to my HM PB for a while until this year when everything clicked.  I definitely run a lot of workouts, normally something like 5 runs / week with 1 long, 1 easy, 2 workouts and maybe a steady one or lighter workout in there too.  Tends to be around the 80km/50 mile mark all up.  It seems like my body has been OK with that as so far the only injury issue I've had was some ITB troubles late last year/early this year but that was definitely post-marathon fatigue.

DJW wow you are lucky been able to go to OKC games. They are currently 2nd in the west. Their 2nd team is way better than last year.

This site is pretty good. You can say fuck and it's all good

Just managed to get a photo with Nick Willis. I’ll post it later. He seems like a cool guy. I didn’t ask him what he was looking at on his phone.

16:03 official. Really happy with the race, paced it well and a fairly quick finish too (albeit my watch had it at 5.4k so I really can’t trust the km splits!). Can I count a 5000m as a 5k PB? Lol

Watson - I think I found you guys here a year ago or so, but never did join. I've been consistent with mileage, but lazy at the same time. Just unorganized, and without specific goals. Really most of the reason I joined back up so you guys can hold me accountable.

P Kiwi - yeah man I could talk Thunder all day with someone. Their defense is amazing, even without their best defender Roberson, and they all gel very well together this year. I'm looking for a deeper playoff showing in the spring. Ha, nice on the ability to cuss and not get booted off like some sites. I'm browsing through some long standing "dick freezing" thread over in some other topic here and laughing. I thought, surely it's some play on words type thing, but then I realize - nope we're definitely talking dick and balls, ha.

Mark - was that a track 5000m? Either way that's freakin awesome. And absolutely that counts as a 5k if so!

Mark great job. I would put it in your signature as a 5000m. They are definitely about 10 secs quicker due to perfect flat terrain and track bounce. Look forward to the photo.

DJ yeah that dick thread has been going for years.

Adams got 20 rebounds and over 20 points the other day. One day he's going to shoot an accidental 3 pointer you heard it here first

Wait, is this the BasketBall forum? haha just kidding I'm memeing a post by Piwi a few pages ago.

DJ - are you still on that protein heavy diet?

Mark - awesome result! how did the spikes fare? GPS will go crazy when doing round loops, don't sweat that. TBH a 5000m is more accurate record than a road 5K since you know that it has the exact distance. Did you stay to watch the PROs race? It must have been great to watch then loop around 62-65 seconds per lap.

me - I too wonder what philly, Sam, that UndersleptDad dude who would run in -150C and the others are up to.

Yesterday I was talking to a local running group and I'm considering to start working with them. It's roughly USD 45 per month, so not too bad, but I'd have to give up on functional training. They have a solid roster with a couple of 2h17 marathon runners and a lot of people in between. I'll give myself a week to think about it.

DJ/Piwi - I also love that this forum is more free in what one can say. But I'm glad there's a little moderation so that we don't have stuff like this -> Is there a good way to approach women on a run?

                        RIP Milkman

That thread over on LRC is great. Flavio you always do a great job finding them. Also joining a running group sounds like a good idea.

Mark - congrats, amazing time! Couldn't even sniff anything like that. Your speed ability is so impressive.

DJ - good to have another NBA fan here.

Me - It's finally arrived here in the northern hemisphere: the winter solstice. I realize we have a long way to go, but I'm going to take this as a positive: it's only getting lighter out for 6 months straight. Sucks for you southern hemisphere folk!

Jmac yeah I'm sick of 5am daylight. Bring on winter.

Now are you saying that you are an NBA fan or by "another" NBA fan do you mean me ?

I'm not feeling enough obsession from you around the NBA to call you a fan

Flavio the running group could be awesome for you and keep you more accountable and motivated.

That thread over on lets run is actually a good one. Some of those guys are such boys.

DJ are you still working hard manual 10 hour days ?

I had Philly on my Strava but  he wasn't responding to any comments etc. I've got Brent Hansen on there too.

I will start running again Jan 1st. That will give my calf 10 days off. I won't go back straight to 55mpw but give myself a slower buildup. Its messed my marathon  cycle pretty bad.

Piwi - yeah not too much of me in that video (although the bright yellow singlet makes me easy to spot), I was in a group of 5 or so that was a bit off the lead bunch.  Although there was one comment at one point about 'a few veteran athletes in this group, many run marathon or half marathons but have come back for a bit of speed work on the track' hahaha.  Very deep field by local standards with the B race pretty much all running between 15:30 and 16:30 and practically everyone in the A race going under 15 minutes.

And yes I'm also pumped that we're now past the longest day and the days start getting shorter again, hooray!

Anyway this was me with Nick Willis.
