Forums >Gears and Wears>What do you call the toe next to your pinky toe anyway?
So, I've been wearing these middle of the road running shoes. I don't love em or hate em, just what I'm using. I've run 948 mile in 4 pair in the last 7 months. 5Ks to Marathon. Trails, roads, rain, ice, heat, etc...
Last night I went for the most vanilla easy 7 miler and bam! I got a big blood blister and a most likely a dead nail on the second to last toe. The nail was trimmed enough and I had on the usual running sox, I mean socks. What am I missing?
I suppose this stuff just happens if you run enough miles but that doesn't sound right either.
Might as well call the toe truck and derail this thread from the get go.
That is the little pig who had none. In my house we called that one "the one who had none".
Ah. The toe truck. Seattle thing.
OK, duh. The one that was supposed to have none stole some roast beef.

Even with your three toes and webbed feet?
If I had an extra toe would I run faster?
only if you ran like an ostrich!
why is this is gears & wears?
medical types call it the 4th toe.
It's about my running shoes. You mean that's not obvious?
the fourth metatarsal...or informally...if you're on a first name basis...Ralfph.
sure if you ran in those new Vibrams 6-fingers that everyone is talking about
barefootin'
It's obviously the ring toe.

metatarsal is the midfoot.. not the toe... it's the 4th proximal, middle & distal phalanges if you wanna get technical
