Running Routes in/around Lower Manhattan/ Greenwich Village? (Read 2354 times)

I'm heading to NYC soon but am staying down by Ground Zero this time. When I stay further uptown, I run Central Park... what's the best thing to do on the lower end? Looking for 6 miles or so.

If you're running early in the morning there's a bike/pedestrian path along the West Side Highway that goes down to Battery Park to the south and (I think) all the way up to the GW bridge or beyond to the north.

mikey's got it, although I think it stops at Vesey Ave now due to the construction around Ground Zero. Plenty of public routes marked by your fellow RA'ers on the maps under the tools tab, including mileage. The path is clearly marked with crosswalks and arrows, and provides some great views of the Hudson River at points. It runs just to the west of West Ave / 9A / West Side Hwy.
Thanks, guys - that's exactly what I did and it worked out well. As always, it blows a small-town guy away to pass 75 people on a run - crazy, crazy. But it was an ideal run, and I even got a picture of the Brooklyn Bridge the day before its 125th birthday!

I did this run and garmin-mapped it a while back: http://www.mapmyrun.com/run/united-states/ny/new-york/205480628 It was very cool looking out at the statue of liberty and all down there. The east side part is actually on a bike path/walkway underneath the FDR Drive highway. The mapping is a bit off because of interference from bridges and buildings. You can probably continue north past the manhattan bridge for many miles farther than i went. One other interesting part about running there is that you'll see many, many runners, but nobody waves, says 'hi' or makes eye contact.
