I just found it funny because (a) you used almost the same thread name, (b) it was only a half dozen threads down the list in the same forum, and (c) this is a non-story because he said 2 months ago he probably wouldn't run so I don't understand why the New York Times thinks that this is so revolutionary. It'd be more of a story if he decided to run the marathon after all.
