MI races over holiday. (Read 486 times)

We plan to come to lower MI sometime over the holidays. Are any of you doing a race anytime around Christmas or New Years Day? We'll be near Battle Creek which is less than an hour from Grand Rapids, Lansing, Hastings, Kalamazoo, etc. We'd be willing to travel up to 100 miles or so. I'd sure like to meet up with some other RA folks.

At the end of the day, be happy with where you are and what you've accomplished.

Here's a couple of area calendars. It's base season for me so I probably wont be racing, but if something looks fun I may try it. I live almost 1/2 way between Lansing and GR. good luck http://www.gazellesports.com/events.aspx (Grand Rapids area) http://www.playmakers.com/racecalendar/month.php?eventmonth=November (Lansing area)
I see the Wolverine Resolution run in East Grand Rapids. The Gazelle Sports web site says it's on 01/01/2008 @ 8:30 A.M. but the Classicrace.com web site says it's on 12/31/2007 @ 3:30 P.M. What gives? I can't get the Playmakers site to show anything for 2008.

Well that is a bit strange. It looks like last year it was on the 1st at 8:30am. I took a quick look at the playmakers calendar. It has the same races as the gazelle site. If your still around on 1/19 I plan to do the Portland Winter Run. Last year there were about 300 runners. I hate to race in the cold and risk injury (and its base season, not race season) BUT, I know the organizers and kinda feel obligated to show up and have some fun. Smile And yes - I typed 1/19 on purpose. The gazelle site is wrong about that one for sure.
I'm going to call or email about that Resolution Run in G.R. Are any of you doing that one? 01/19 is my birthday and we'll be back in KY. I'll be seriously training for the Bi-Lo in Myrtle Beach on 02/16. Once again, my goal is 3:20 and I hope I don't screw it up again. I really believe I'm capable. Marathons, being so long, have a huge margin for error and I screw up too much.

Ray, Flint is about 100 miles from BC. I've run this one several times. It's well organized and a good event. I like that it's at 2 in the afternoon of New Year's Eve. Happy holidays! http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1499953 Ken

Thanks Ken. I just might consider that one. Are you running/spectating it?
