    Good luck Houston runners!

     

    I think I've identified my problem:  a popliteal strain, or at the very least, it's aggravated.  Often due to overuse, especially with hill running, which I've been doing a lot of.  So, I guess I'm resting for a few days.  Good thing I'm not in the peak phase for training for an ultra or anything...

        Haha, I have no idea how to pronounce it either, but the symptoms fit.  Pain is mostly behind the knee (not under the kneecap), when the knee is slightly bent, or when rotating.  I think there is also some synovial fluid buildup in the joint, but it's a pretty mild case, so hopefully a few days off and some stretching of the hamstring, quads, etc., will take care of it.

            Jut arrived in Houston a few hours ago, after a 90 minute flight delay.  Seat mates were sick, so very glad for my flu mask (cupped to my nose the whole time with one hand.)

            Everyone's gotta running blog; I'm the only one with a POOL-RUNNING blog.

             

            And...if you want a running Instagram where all the pictures are of cats, I've got you covered.

                      I thought I'd get it out of the way, while the rest of my family naps.

                       

                      Today was a good day. Quick recap. Low temps (low 40s), High winds (15-30, headwind roughly 8 of the last 9 miles). Felt great from start to finish, had a course direction issue (see RR), but got a new PR.

                       

                      13.1 in 1:25:16, really happy with this. Definitely think sub-85 was there today if there was a little less wind.

                       

                      Official race time: 1:21:29 (again, see RR for course issue)

                          Ace: Bummer about the course mix-up!  That's such a shame! 

                          Nice pace, though, and commendable of you to keep running for the full 13.1.  The spectators must've wondered what the heck was going on!
