I did pool running during a metatarsal stress fracture injury and it was a great alternative. I did it at my local YMCA and a belt. I didn't have a tether so I did running laps during the rec swim. It is harder than I thought it would be and I felt like it worked some leg muscles more than others compared to normal running. Less calf work and more upper leg work. I would still work up a sweat on my head, but the best part is that I could cool off at any point by just dunking underwater quick!
