>Off the Beaten Path>Unnerving Fires
Wow is all I can say it's almost surreal how fast this has been spreading. It jumped over the foothills today and within a few minutes was already almost down into the Springs.
I don't think I'll be sleeping too well tonight as this is the scene about 10-15 miles south of where my house is:
Scary stuff. Currently okay where I am as the wind is blowing east and not north but it's not far from me and I already have several friends whose houses are gone
Wow that is scary. Reminds me of Texas last year near my grandparents' place. Hope they are able to get things under control out there soon and I'll say an extra prayer for you all! Stay safe!
Not A Runner
I can't stop obsessively following the High Park fire. 260 homes have now burned outside of Ft. Collins. The fire jumped the Poudre River (along which the Colorado Marathon is run), and is now burning houses on the other side. A before pic. Which makes me sad.
I saw how bad the fire outside the Springs has become. Part of the Air Force Academy and 11,000 residents have been evacuated? I feel bad for everyone. I hope they are safe, though.
I want to do it because I want to do it. -Amelia Earhart
My best friend and constant running partner was evacuated two days ago. She only had enough time to collect her late father's pictures and her dog before a police escort came to usher them away from her home. I know she appreciates everyone who is reaching out at this time. Unfortunately, even though there are resources that could help put the fire out, the tools that are capable of this rescue are privately owned, and the owners refuse to step in and help until Colorado has depleted all of its own public resources. It's interesting how these priorities work out.
We were set to have a vacation in Glenwood Springs and Florissant over the last four days. Spent the time in Denver instead. Could hardly even see the mountains from Denver on Sunday. Stay safe.
Well at least someone here is making relevance to the subject.
Just talked to a coworker who had a connection in Denver. He said that from airport approach path you could not even see downtown. We need rain really bad here too but I've give you one of our storms...
2013 goals: Somehow get healthy again.

Now pre-evac sure Monument west of I-25 which is about a mile and a half away from my house.
Maybe it's because it's where fire command is but I still have classes today at UCCS, despite the fact the fire is burning only 2-3 miles away.
