>Racing>A 0.24 mile marathon
Yet another "marathon" measurement: China's first vertical marathon
Well at least someone here is making relevance to the subject. - S.J.
Feeling the growl again
Winner of the last one took <11 minutes...the only time I considered 11 minutes to be on par with a marathon was when I was being forced to watch Twighlight.

That's even faster than one of those 5k marathons.
Although I still would not want to do it.
Stair climbs are hard. I did the Hustle up the Hancock about 4 years ago and it's not something I'd care to do again.
Finisher's medal and wicking shirt?
Needs more cowbell!
What is it about stairs? Even at my best aerobic fitness ever a flight or two of stairs could leave me severely winded. I don't seem to be alone in this, either.
• Do some dus...and some CX...and some tandem gravel...and some podiums...
• 130#s (or less)
• Stop letting my core go to hell
What is it about stairs?
And you'd think it would be more like pedaling than like running.
I did the Empire State Building race a few times. It's not running at all, not even close. People start running for a few flights, but then it's more arm power pulling yourself up and around by the railings, taking two or so stairs at a time... in fast walk.
Took me a dozen or so minutes (can't recall). It was hard to breathe and the stairwell was dusty and mildewy, but it was nothing at all like a marathon. Still fun though, once or twice. I did get a cool medal.
HTFU? Why not!
I used to live on a 5th floor walk up. I'd get winded even though I did the trip up and down a few times a day. I'd get to the top gasping, but could race a 60k. There IS something about stairs, and that something sucks.
ETA: On the bright side, living there kept my mother in law away. There was no way she'd make the climb more than once or twice a year.
If you ask
a long race, run on roads, of 26.2 miles or 42.2kilometers
A marathon is also an activity that continues for a very long time: a dance marathon
1.a foot race over a course measuring 26 mi. 385 yards (42 km195 meters).
2.any long-distance race.
3. any contest, event, or the like, of great, or greater than normal, length or duration or requiring exceptional endurance: a dancemarathon; a sales marathon.
I got no fight left in me.
