Cobra Commander Keen
RP - Thanks. No promises on a text, but would a tiktok suffice?

Keen - I hope you've got a good strategy to avoid taper week nerves because even I'm starting to feel them. I'll just look at your mileage to reassure myself. Those stages were copied from JMac post - I don't expect you to need them next week, it will be more like the stages of celebration. I'm very much looking forward to when you can raise your bat.
Mark - Very interesting point about the best goals being just beyond our capabilities. I remember reading in Jeremy Coney's book inherited from my uncle "achieving goals simply represents our inability to set appropriate goals" which seems overly harsh. It was in the context of his first test century which was a long time coming and led to a feeling of "is this it?". Hopefully I can sort out my muscle imbalance and achieve my "soft" goal then set one that is appropriate.
darkwave - Very good tips. I would hope the first time I go they'll find out my goals and set the standard at a reasonable level for me? I'll probably do a few sessions then add it to my weekly routine at home. I'll definitely be going for a relaxed version. If I try to touch my toes, I can get halfway down my shin at best.

Keen - what pace are you going out at? Is it still sub 2:55 pace?
If you want a masterclass in pacing at that speed, check this out:

He should really be looking at faster than 2:55 if his 5k wasn’t all out. Also his consistent monster mileage.
Anyone know what’s happened to my non binary mate, Cal?
5k - 17:53 (4/19) 10k - 37:53 (11/18) Half - 1:23:18 (4/19) Full - 2:50:43 (4/19)
JMac - I witnessed part of that run! At least the first 800m before that guy pulled away and disappeared into the distance.
The current plan is to aim for 2:54-55.

Let's not blow up another person's marathon. I like 254 for him with his history!
Cal is worried about the long term impact of high mileage on his health. He is in a lull, maybe he will come back in the new year?

I keep forgetting that this is pretty much the new Waltons thread now and we shouldn’t be expecting too much.
I honestly think that you’re the only poster capable of winning a Moose Mug next year…unless some new folk join.
When a man hasn't beaten his Z goal in the last few tries, you can't be gunning for your A+ time . Who knows what bug he will come down with this time. Keen's goal is "sub 2:55 and not even thinking of using a medical tent"
Surely he’s worked out how to run a marathon by now?
Will he get a bug?…please god don’t let it be the covid sniffles.
Mikkey - No chance, he got vaccinated last week to be safe 🎣
Nothing special
Well, Mikkey ist the man to ask in this context - just take a look at those PRs and compare 😜.
Sick and tired
Wow, that is amazing. We need more lurker content like this!
You're welcome. I have to admit, though, that a 2:50:** marathon is darn fast compared to a 1:23:** half. I think, sub 2:55 is a realistic goal in this case.
Keen: Good luck!
🤣🤣🤣
