Keen!!!!  - Huge cograts from the peanut gallery!

Awesome stuff Keen. That one has been a long time coming for sure, possibly the hardest earned sub-3 on this site, so enjoy every second of it.

      It's Tuesday every day

Wow, Keen, excellent job!!!!! Way to crush it. Soo excited for you.

Stellar jobs by michaelmarty and Cal, too! I think mm and I were either on the same "20xx in 20xx" team and/or he orchestrated the 2017 RA Holiday Streak in which I ran. Glad he had a good day.

        RIP Milkman

I am so damn happy for Keen. Stopped during my run to check and post. He actually negative split the damn thing which is not easy on that course given the profile. That is a race you'll never forget!

Was so happy during my run I ran my last mile way too fast after realizing he was gonna do it!

Congrats Keen!!! You really earned it. I can't believe I could be this happy about someone I don't know achieving something. I just got home from my run and I pushed my family out of my way to get to my phone and check this thread 😃.

I had to phone giving me updates DURING my run. The group might have gone a little further because of it.  In windy and slightly rainy conditions.

Many of us aren't sure what the hell point you are trying to make and no matter how we guess, it always seems to be something else. Which usually means a person is doing it on purpose.

Keen's 5km splits from his Strava, which I usually find more reliable overall than the tracking apps.

                  • 5km        20:53
                  • 10km      20:51
                  • 15km      21:00
                  • 20km      20:49
                  • 25km      20:34
                  • 30km      21:40
                  • 35km      20:50
                  • 40km      20:59

I said on Strava it's a work of art, and it really is.  Perfect pacing, looks like he's used it all up just at the right time.  Maybe a slight regroup at 25-30km?

Edit:  Comparing Cal's to Keen's is interesting - Cal has the third km with a 59m elevation gain which sounds horrific but Keen's says a 5m drop.  Overall the course looks pretty undulating to me.

                  5km: 18:34 11/23 â”‚ 10km: 39:10 8/23 â”‚ HM: 1:26:48 9/23 â”‚ M: 3:34:49 6/23

I would trust CIM more. It's one of the biggest marathons in the US and it's definitely measured right (USATF Marathon championship this year and many other years) . Either way, you are right. A complete work of art. And the course definitely has no gain like that. It's a rolling course. Worst mile is probably only 10 meters in net gain.

There often seems to be 1-2 splits that seem well off, with I guess one timing mat out of place.  In this case, they look pretty accurate:

                          5km       21:07

                          10km     20:45

                          15km     21:05

                          20km     No marker

                          25km     41:29 (20:45 average since 15km)

                          30km     20:42

                          35km     20:57

                          40km     20:58

Halfway  1:28:16, so the second half in 1:27:49.

That actually looks even better than the Strava splits, the perfect race.

In other much less important news, I've officially made the coaching change with my first session with my new coach next week.  He also organises group runs for his athletes so that might be nice to mix things up a bit and get to know a few more locals.  He uses Training Peaks for his planning - I've signed up and imported 5 years worth of data.  The analysis it provides is amazing.

Another building week for me.  I'm on track to pass my yearly mileage record (set in 2021) this coming Friday.

Interested to hear how you find TP, Steve.  My coach uses it too.  I didn't pay for the flash version, but it sure has some pretty graphs.  TBH even just the basic one you see for each run via the web page is quite an effective visualisation.
